FW is the best place to find all the pvp you want whether it's frigs, destroyers, cruisers, or higher (although you'll be plenty occupied with just frigs/dessy/cruiser).
Overall pvp in EVE is not so good to be honest. 1v1 is boring.
OGB makes everything lame and everyone complaining about it are the people who use it and know they will be horrible without it.
When you fly in a tiny gang like 3-5 people it's hard to find another group of 3-5 people to fight against, and when you do they typically run and call their friends and come back with 15-20 because losing ships is such a huge deal in eve apparently (i never got the memo apparently).
Anyway, if you want to blob around and be on the "winning" side of FW join minmatar or gallente FW.
If you want to learn to pvp and be on the "losing" side along with get blobbed all the time join Amarr or Caldari FW.
In Amarr/Caldari you'll probably learn more since you'll pretty much never be able to blob anyone so you'll actually have to learn what the **** to do to kill **** before you blow the **** up.
With regard to fleets and getting primaried: yeh you're ****** without logi (with as well in certain situations), but what you do when you're NOT primary is in my opinion what makes one pilot better or another regarding fleet.
Also, there are some things you can do for EWAR ships in a fleet situation that can really make a big difference (with the exception of ECM...which is the lamest **** on earth especially when you already outnumber your enemy...but losing ships in EVE is worse than getting cancer apparently so no one wants to get into a fight where they might lose something).
Finally, regarding solo or tiny gang pvp, you may see a lot of targets flying around and such. the problem is no one wants to take any risks so most people tend to take fights they believe they have a 100% chance of winning and coming out alive without losing their ships. Most of the "solo" pvpers in minmatar FW have this mentality. In Amarr, there are a lot of people who realize that who gives a **** if you lose a ship.
Overall though, yeah pvp can be pretty boring/lame in EVE but FW is the best place for pvp if you don't mind playing the sovereignty game.
On another note, if you join Amarr (can't speak for caldari) you're probably going to run into a lot of pirates who are "blue" with the minmatar. Losing ships is so scary that even big bad piwats won't fight the minmatar so they just "blue" them. This is with respect to many of the pirate corps that live in the Amarr/Minmatar warzone.
